Hello,
We continued our social studies curriculum today. The grade 6s will be looking at Canada and its trading partners around the world. The grade 7s will be looking at Canada's history between 1800-1850.
We had some time today to work on unfinished math. We will start our new math unit on Monday. This unit will focus on surface area and volume. There is no test for the previous unit.
The afternoon was spent finishing up an activity from yesterday. We are going to be doing more research using online sources. Students are being taught how to summarize what they read in their own words. The focus here will be to be brief in your summary. We are also going to examine plagiarism and the use of AI in our work. We continued our Black History Month activity. Over the next six weeks or so we will be looking at different contributions from the black community to Canada's history. We are also going to talk about systemic racism throughout the unit.
We ended the day in the library for book exchange.
We have an outdoor play day tomorrow. Our class will be outside from 1:40 - 2:20 PM tomorrow. I would advise that students dress warmly. It will be windy and cold.
