Hi Everyone,
With regard to tomorrow (Friday, November 4), I will send home a print copy of asynchronous tasks that students can work on. A new math lesson and video will be posted in Google Classroom that students can work on, but we will review it on Monday. I will be available online (via email) to support students if they have questions. I also understand that some students may have family responsibilities (babysitting, etc.) or you may choose to have some extra family time, so they don’t need to worry about missing new instruction time tomorrow.
At this point in time, we have not been given any direction for Monday, should the strike action continue into next week. Hopefully, the two sides will come to a resolution, and we’ll be back in the school.
Grade 7s only
Should we
be in school on Monday, my assumption is that the vaccination clinic will go
ahead for the grade 7s. If you haven’t done it yet, you can indicate your consent
for vaccinations on the York Region Public Health website. If we aren’t in
school, York Region Public Health will make decisions around re-scheduling and
advise families.
Again, providing we’re in school on Tuesday, our visit to Scanlon Creek should go ahead for the grade 7s. Students need to be prepared to be outside for the full day. The current weather forecast looks sunny but cool. Please keep an eye and make sure they are dressed appropriately. Students need to bring lunch with them (bringing any garbage home with them). I have included two additional pages about our trip to Scanlon Creek that you can review. One is just information about the program and the other is an OPTIONAL media release allowing staff at Scanlon Creek to take pictures of your child and use them. You do not have to complete that form, but if you do, please email a copy back to me (or print it and send it in). Students have had the opportunity to choose their top two choices in terms of the programs they participate in and everyone has at least one of those choices.
I hope everything works out well. Please keep an eye on the news media and board website for any updates regarding the labour dispute.
